“Autumn Nature Observation: Rock Walk” Held.
On October 13 (canceled October 19 due to inclement weather), “Autumn Nature Observation: Rock Walk” was hosted by the Oki Islands Geopark Management Bureau in partnership with Okinoshima Town Central Community Center and Okinoshima Town Board of Education.
In alignment with Geodiversity Day on October 6, the aim of the event was to have participants experience the diversity of geology in the Oki Islands.
16 participants gathered on the day and visited four different strata (one from the continental period, one from the lake/sea period, two from the volcanic islands period) in Okinoshima Town by car.
Face-to-face with the strata, everyone was absorbed in searching for fossils and gems.
A look at the event will be displayed in the Oki Islands Geopark Museum throughout November, so please be sure to come take a look.
