In-service Lesson Planning Held in Partnership with the Oki District Elementary and Junior High School Educational Research Association, Science Department
On August 2 (Friday), the geopark conducted fieldwork and an indoor in-service with science teachers from elementary and junior high schools in the Oki District in order to promote lesson planning that includes the geological resources of the local area. During the fieldwork, teachers went out to observe the geological layers in their real-life localities as a geologist from our Bureau explained the formation and characteristics of the localities’ geology.
Then, in the indoor in-service, teachers experimented with and exchanged opinions on portions of a new lesson plan.
This lesson plan was taken back to each school after the in-service, and there are plans to conduct the geological resources lesson during the 2nd school term at each school when possible. We would like to continue cooperating with teachers in the future to make the learning environment for children even better.
