Banded Mudstone Strata, Minaichi

Here you can see numerous rock layers that form a striped pattern.
This rock is from around 20 million years ago, when the land of Oki was at the bottom of a lake. The striped pattern is thought to be a record of the organic matter and minerals that collected at the bottom of the lake in each season.
