Nature Sites / Okinoshima Town
Katakuri, or the asian fawnlily (Erythronium japonicum), is a subalpine plant, but in the Oki Islands it grows right near the coast. In the past, its numbers decreased due to being picked, but through volunteer efforts of the local people, it is now protected here in Katakuri Flower Park. Around the end of March, this whole area blooms in a beautiful light purple color.
