“Earth’s Footprints: The History of Chibu Seen from Its Geology” Lecture Held

On July 15, Chiburijima Tourism Association hosted a lecture titled “Earth’s Footprints: The History of Chibu Seen from Its Geology.” 

To educate local residents about the wonders of Chiburijima Island’s geology, a geologist from the Oki Islands Geopark Management Bureau discussed the distribution of rocks on Chiburijima Island and the information that this provides about the island’s formation. 

At the end, participants excitedly participated in a quiz where they were asked to guess rocks based on observation of rock specimens. 

This was a wonderful opportunity for the approximately 15 participants to gain an interest in the geology of Chiburijima Island.
